I was watching What to Eat Now a few weeks ago and Valentine Warner made what looked like the most glorious Apricot upside-down tart.

Today one of my friends mentioned that they had a glut of apricots, so I thought that it would be an ideal opportunity to try out the recipe. It worked very well, and I am sure that it would work nearly as well with shop bought pastry and apricots. Photos to follow, when I can get around to uploading them from my phone…

Dehydrated Tomatoes

All my vegetables are in full swing now, and at the moment I have a glut of tomatoes. A few weeks ago I picked up a dehydrator from lakeland, and now it is time to use it in earnest!

First I sliced all the tomatoes in half, and removed any bad bits, then I placed them on the dehydrator trays and left the dehydrator on. Every now and again I swapped the order of the trays and removed any tomatoes that had reached the correct level of dryness (a bit like raisins.)

Boodle's Cake

When I was young, my Grandma used to make a most wonderful cake called “Boodle’s Cake.” I have since discovered that this cake is served at Boodle’s Private Members’ Club in St James’s Street, London…

The cake’s most important ingredient is Extra Large Raisins which have been very scarce for a few years, so you can imagine my joy when I noticed that the local Holland and Barrett had them in stock last friday. I bought a couple of bags, and on Sunday morning I set about making a Boodle’s Cake.
